Kats 2016 Christmas Holiday Message
As we near the end of 2017, many of us are busy getting ready for the Holidays. But this time of year is also a time to reflect on change, improvements and opportunities for growth. We typically look at this from not only a personal perspective but also from a professional growth perspective.

As you look back at 2017, what has changed in your professional life? Your personal life? Have you experienced growth? At UR Nation, we experienced a change when we were acquired by Mitchell International. And as 2018 fast approaches, we are looking at more opportunities to meld UR Nation with Mitchell. 2018 will no doubt be a year of continued change and growth for UR Nation, our contributors and our members.

How did the industry change this year? One way is through mergers and acquisitions. While the past couple of years have been rampant with acquisitions, it feels like there were slightly fewer acquisitions announced in 2017 as compared to 2016. The impact of mergers and acquisitions on the industry can be viewed one of three ways:

  • Positive in that you have a single vendor to interface with and to monitor and strategize with versus multiple vendors. This creates a more centralized experience and allows the parties to be more familiar with workflows and contractual requirements and can therefore provide a better customer service experience.
  • Neutral in that change is constant, and while it means your company may be associated with the same people, the organizational name may have changed. This may have little or no impact on the work you perform.
  • Negative in that there is too much change for some people. Also, some view the mergers to be removing competition and limiting their options of available vendors.

Regardless of your perspective, change is inevitable. As the pre-Socratic Greek philosopher Heraclitus put it, “nothing is constant but change,” Heraclitus also said, “No man ever steps in the same river twice.” The timeframe in which this was written certainly proves that change is constant!

So whether your view of change is positive, neutral, negative, or a combination of all three depending on your circumstances, it’s pretty certain that change will occur, and your success within life depends on your perception of that change. As such, we at UR Nation are embracing the change, looking forward to improving with every change we encounter, and looking forward to building our new identity with Mitchell in 2018.

To each of you we hope you can take time to enjoy your families and the holiday festivities, and we wish you the happiest of holidays from UR Nation and the entire Mitchell family!
